Fisheye & 360° Cameras

Most 360-degree IP cameras work out of the box with TetherX, but there are different recording modes to consider.

View Modes

Different fisheye cameras offer different viewing modes:

Mode Channels Used Description
Fisheye 1 Records the raw circular fisheye image
Panorama 1 Single 180° dewarped view
Double Panorama 1 Split view showing two 180° sections (top and bottom)
Quad 1 or 4 Four separate quadrant views
View Areas 1-4 Custom cropped regions of the fisheye

Tip: Using modes that split into multiple cameras (Quad as 4 separate streams) consumes multiple channels on your TetherBox. The double panorama mode is often the best balance - full coverage in a single channel.

Camera Configuration

AXIS Cameras

AXIS fisheye cameras provide extensive dewarped view options in their setup interface:

Options include Panorama, Double panorama, Quad, View areas, Corner views, and Corridor mode.

Hikvision Cameras

Hikvision cameras offer similar options. The double panorama view (single channel showing a split 180° view) is called 180 Panorama View:

Dewarping

Dewarping (converting the circular fisheye image to a flat rectangular view) is usually handled by the camera itself. This is recommended as the camera's algorithm is tuned for its specific lens characteristics.

If your camera doesn't have built-in dewarping, contact TetherX and we can enable server-side dewarping on a camera-by-camera basis.

Note: Server-side dewarping only works during playback. Event thumbnails will still appear as fisheye images.

AXIS Companion Cameras

To record from the AXIS Companion range, you need to add the following parameter to your stream URLs:

?Axis-Orig-Sw=true

Add this to the end of both the analytics path and recording path. Contact TetherX if you need assistance.

Use these paths for both analytics and recording:
